A Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) carved ivory skull, snake and skeleton netsuke, unsigned/unknown maker, finely carved as a human skull, surmounted by a skeleton and a coiled snake, height 6cm, mounted in a glass dome.<p>Subject to CITES regulations. This lot will require a re-export permit if shipped outside the mainland UK.

Condition report
Overall yellowing to the ivory, appears to be in good condition with no obvious damage or restoration. Small area at the top of the skull which has a small peg, possibly indicating that that there has been a loss to the this area. It is not know what may have previously been pegged in to this area if anything. Subject to CITES regulations, this lot will require a re-export permit if shipped outside the mainland UK.
