Lot 142: Sold for £40 hammer

Estimate £80-£120

A Japanese Meiji Period (1868-1912) black lacquered jewellery casket, the hinged cover revealing various box compartments and lower single drawer, raised on traditional yoke form supports and further applied with metal mounts and handles, picked out with gilt fan and trellis work gilt designs, height 24cm, weight 32.5cm, depth 22cm.

Condition report
Adaptions made to the hinged cover, where an extra metal plate has been added, possibly indicating restoration, the sectional compartments require a little repair and do not sit flush. Small knocks to the relief areas and edges, cracks to the lacquer, small chip to the corner of the compartment tray.
