C.L Burns - A late 19th Century shallow charger decorated with a handpainted scene of the Pied Piper with thatched cottages behind all to gilt ground with burnt red border, signed lower right and dated 1882, diameter 37cm. NB. Sir Hubert von Herkomer RA RWS RI RE (1849 - 1914) founded a school of art in Bushey, Hertfordshire directing it personally from 1883 to 1904. C.L Burns was a student under Herkomer.
